Welcome to Pukerangi Homestead Country Retreat. Pukerangi means "Hills of Heaven” and the name is well suited to the Homestead. An exiting way to get there is to ride the Taieri Gorge Train from Dunedin to Barewood, a vast high country in the rolling hills of the iconic Otago Province. As you disembark at the Pukerangi Railway Station, you will notice our villa-style stone farmhouse resting against the backdrop of an idyllic pastoral setting. Sip a cool drink on the front porch and admire the spectacular views of the rock and pillar mountain range. Put your feet up relax and stay a while.
This respectfully renovated historic homestead with colonial furniture and cosy open fire features four charming uniquely themed double rooms dressed in luxurious furnishings and linens each with its own en-suite.
The English room which enjoys breathtaking mountain views has a king-size bed with electric blanket, fine linens, feather/down duvet and wool pillows. Its tiled en-suite has a shower, heated towel rail, mirror de-mister, hair dryer, under floor heating, fluffy robes, and naturally made NZ toiletries. In addition there is a TV&DVD player.
The Scottish room which overlooks the garden, has a queen-sized bed with electric blanket, fine linens feather/down duvet, wool pillow and a TV and DVD player. Its en-suite which was the original bathroom has a shower, heated towel rail, mirror de-mister, wall heater, hairdryer, fluffy robes and naturally NZ made toiletries.
The French room with garden views has a queen size bed with electric blanket, fine linen, feather/down duvet and wool pillows, TV and DVD player. Its luxurious spacious tiled en-suite features a claw-foot bath overlooking the garden, a large shower and vanity, under floor heating, heated towel rail, mirror de-mister, hair dryer, fluffy robes and naturally NZ Made toiletries. Simple elegance.
The Kiwi room features French doors that open onto a private courtyard overlooking the mountains and farm - a perfect setting for breakfast or pre-dinner relaxation. This room has a queen-size bed with electric blanket, fine linen, feather/down duvet and wool pillows. In addition there is a TV & DVD player. The tiled en-suite has a shower, heated towel rail, mirror de-mister, wall heater, hair dryer, fluffy robes and naturally NZ made toiletries.
All rooms are serviced daily. A hearty continental or cooked breakfast is included in the tariff. Evening meals by arrangement or there is a fully appointed kitchen for self catering. There is also a courtesy vehicle to Middlemarch where you have a selection of dining experiences. The lounge has a cosy open fire, large comfortable couches, surround sound stereo, a marble chess set plus a selection of other board games, a library and lavish furnishings make this room warm and inviting.
The spacious front porch is furnished for outdoor entertaining. Other facilities and activities include: barbeque, guest laundry, mountain bikes on request, large newly landscaped garden, duck pond.
