Overview
Garvan Hotel is a small country retreat boasting accommodation of the highest standards and a fine dining restaurant that is the best in the region. (Chef Joanna, was formerly executive chef at the Park Royal Hotel, Potts Point, Sydney, and operates a cooking school from the premises)
The hotel is nestled amongst 16 acres of established woodland gardens, and has a rural backdrop of rolling sheep paddocks. We always have a pet lamb over Spring/Summer which guests enjoy bottle feeding. Garvan is situated 30 minutes South of Dunedin City Airport and is a popular stop for guests traveling between Dunedin, Queenstown, Te Anau and Invercargill or venturing into the wonderful Catlins along the Southern Scenic Route.
Four rooms are operated and have well-fitted ensuites, open fireplaces, ornate plastered ceilings, and quality bed linen.
During warmer months the cherry blossom, roses, rhododendrons and violets are in bloom. Autumn brings scarlet hues from the virginia creepers and fiery backdrops of maples, oaks, elms and birches.
This retreat is a superb place to refresh energies before venturing amongst the wonderful beauty of the deep south of New Zealand.
