The Nautilus Lodge Motel is a modern spacious Motel located in the heart of Motueka, adjacent to the shops and restaurants. Motueka is 40mins from the Nelson airport. The Nautilus Lodge is an ideal location to base yourself while you explore the beautiful Abel Tasman and Kahurangi National Parks. Access to the Abel Tasman Coastal Track (one of New Zealand’s Great Walks) at Marahau is only a 20 minute drive away. Most water taxi services, kayak tours etc begin here or you can often arrange for a pick-up from Nautilus Lodge. The Nautilus Lodge Motel has large luxury 1 bedroom and studio units with sunny outdoor courtyards or balconies. You can relax in spacious comfort after your day in the park or pursuing many of the other activities available in this area such as the wine and art trails. The Nautilus Lodge Motel has a Qualmark four star plus rating – self contained and serviced. Motueka is situated in the centre of all things in the Nelson region. Close by is the Abel Tasman National Park with its world famous coastal track, and water activities such as sea kayaking, Kaiteriteri Beach with its golden sands is a family favourite with safe swimming, and just a 10 minute drive away. For those wanting to spend their visit here doing less strenuous activities, we are located in the centre of the fabulous art and culture trail (over 300 full time artists make a living in our region). Over the nearby Takaha hill is Golden Bay where a day can be spent exploring many destinations such as Farewell Spit or you can drop in to the Anatoki Salmon farm where you can enjoy some of the finest salmon in the South Island. They will supply you with a rod so you can catch your own and then have it hot-smoked by their expert staff. Bring your catch back to the motel and enjoy with a glass of wine in your own courtyard or on your balcony. Food of the land is in abundance in the Nelson region. Nearby cafés and restaurants serve a mouth watering feast of local products (seafood dishes are often a specialty), and the growing number of vineyards producing award winning wines are a must to visit for the wine enthusiast. Also near by is the immaculate 18 hole Mouteka Golf Course where you can hire a set of clubs or take your own. A warm welcome is guaranteed. The adventurous may want to try a tandem sky dive (parachute) jump or a Microlight flight,whilst the more sedate visitor can fish for brown trout in the fishing spots of the Motueka River, or hire a guide and fly by helicopter into the Kahurangi National Park and be guaranteed a great fish.
