Qualmark four star plus rating and only forty five minutes north of Auckland and ten minutes from Matakana and Warkworth. The Vineyard House can sleep six people very comfortably and is situated in a stunning location overlooking our vineyard and the Sandspit estuary. With three lovely ensuite bedrooms, two kitchens and two lounges, it is ideal for friends and families as there is plenty of space for everybody to relax and unwind in this magical place. The Bordeaux & Merlot apartments can be combined for exclusive use of the Vineyard House for groups of six or they can be let separately. The Bordeaux Suite has two bedrooms each with an ensuite bathroom on the upper level with a superb fully equipped kitchen The master bedroom also has a claw foot bath which adds that extra touch of luxury and a log fire in the lounge creates a cosy warmth for winter stays and French doors lead onto the decks for al fresco dining in the warm weather. The Merlot Suite, is on ground-level with a king size bed and an ensuite bathroom, a kitchen, lounge, deck and its own entrance. This tranquil property is close to every activity that will cater for all tastes. The house is situated on a biodynamic vineyard and has stunning views of the vineyard and estuary. Both lounges are equipped with Sky Sports TV, stereo, DVD, a small library, telephone and free wireless internet access for your lap tops. This is an ideal base for an extended holiday so that you can really enjoy this beautiful area. We are within walking distance to the ferries for Kawau Island and a gorgeous bush walk along the coast can be done right from our door steps! The local beach and cafe is a short ten to fifteen minute stroll from here and we are only a tenminute drive to Matakana with its wineries and award winning restaurants - including The Ascension Vineyard, The Tapiano Bar & Bistro and The Vintry Bar where you can enjoy a tasting of all the locally grown wines. Then there is the famous Morris & James Pottery and Cafe, three beautiful state of the art movie theatres, The Brick Bay Sculpture Trail and several art galleries. The Farmers markets at Matakana are held every Saturday morning (and Wednesday afternoons in the Summer). The pretty town of Warkworth is only seven minutes away and has many attractive shops, restaurants and a large supermarket. Our vineyard is cultivated using natural methods and biodynamic principles. The grapes are hand-picked and grown on a warm, north facing slope overlooking the Sandspit estuary. We produce a Syrah and Bordeaux style wines which are available to anyone over the age of eighteen who is staying here or they can be purchased through our web site. On site wine tasting with an anti-pasta platter and a tour of our vineyard is offered @ $30 per person which can be arranged directly with The Saltings Estate (for house guests only). Advance notice is essential for this activity.
