Overview
Hadleys Hotel located at 34 Murray Street Hobart is one of Australia’s oldest hotels and has a very colourful history.
Formerly Hadleys Orient Hotel, the property was originally built by convict labour and is now classified by the National Trust.
The site was established as the Golden Anchor Inn and opened on the 2nd of October 1834. The current building was built by convict labour and began trading as the Marquis of Waterford in 1849, later to be known as Webb’s Hotel, after being purchased by a pardoned convict John Webb. Webb was sent to Van Dieman’s Land for housebreaking. Following his release he became the official caterer to Government House.
Grand Mercure Hadleys Hotel, as we are now known, has remained faithful to the style and grandeur that the original owners intended and retain our position as The Grand Hotel of Hobart.
Accor Hotels bring extensive international hotel management experience, ensuring that you receive a warm welcome, a fantastic dining experience and a great nights sleep.
2010 will reinvent Grand Mercure Hadleys Hotel. The 71 room heritage hotel will retain the comfort and atmosphere of a boutique hotel but will soon be connected to a modern 128 suite hotel. Due to open in the fourth quarter of this year, the development is the most exciting property development that the Hobart CBD has seen in quite some time.
High tea at Grand Mercure Hadleys Hotel is not to be missed. Hand made pastries, cakes and sandwiches and the only venue with a Rondfeldt Tea Collection. An experience in itself.
Join us at Hadleys and experience a great four and a half star CBD hotel that feels like home.
