Overview
The Merrijig Inn is Victoria's oldest Inn, dating back to 1841. Overlooking the Moyne River, King George Square and the historic working wharf, guests are welcome to relax in comfortable surroundings and experience a sense of charm and history that few properties can offer. A lavish breakfast is served for you each morning in our Garden Conservatory consisting of a variety of cereals, juices, fresh fruits, pancakes, tea & coffee, toast and bacon & eggs. We are centrally located, within a 5-10 minute walk to both the East and South beaches of Port Fairy, Griffith Island and the main shopping strip of Sackville Street. The Merrijig Inn has a large, picturesque cottage garden which has views of the river and fishing fleet and is perfect for relaxing and listening to the crashing waves of the Southern Ocean. Within our Heritage-Listed building, we have a number of lounges with open fireplaces. There is also a television room dedicated for guests in our Attic Rooms and a kitchenette with tea & coffee refrigerator, toaster and microwave. The Merrijig has 8 rooms all individual and with their own unique character: We have Attic Rooms which are very small and are ideal for people visiting the restaurant and have a double bed (not queen size), ensuite with a shower, vanity and toilet. The Attic Rooms have a partial river view and are located upstairs on the first floor. The rate also includes breakfast for two adults. Queen Suites are located on the ground floor and have queen size bedrooms, a sitting area with television and a larger ensuite with shower, vanity and toilet. The rate included breakfast for two adults. Our Award winning restaurant is open for dinner Monday - Saturday evenings from 6pm - late. Bookings are advisable.
